Marga Fabbri
Marga Fabbri was born in 1970, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, city in which she still lives and works. Granddaughter of the sculptor Rómulo Arellano and daughter of the soprano Mercedes Arellano and the pianist and photographer Marino Fabbri, she grew up surrounded by a world of artists which deeply influenced her motivations.
She finished her degree in architecture in the Buenos Aires “College of Architecture, Drawing and Urban Planning”, and also studied at the “National Institute of Art, Restoration and Cultural Resources", as well as having done her internship at the workroom of artists Eduardo Cervera and Sergio Merayo. She is a self-taught artist in the technique of painting acrylic on canvas.
In her own style, Marga Fabbri registers, through drawing and painting, the Argentinean architectural heritage. She even has an ongoing personal project related to the investigation, conservation and documentation of the Buenos Aires architectural heritage. As she mentions: “I combine drawing, painting and architecture, maintaining color and light as the essence of my work. My intention is to register and perpetuate the architectonic beauty of my city through painting, but also the scenes of its everyday life, the neighborhoods, the more typical surroundings, and my childhood memories”.
Since 2001, she has participated in various collective exhibitions, not only in Argentina, but also in Israel, France, Spain, Poland, Brazil and Venezuela. In 2006 she accomplished a European tour, presenting a magnificent individual exhibition which crossed through Paris (France), Verona (Italy) and Vienna (Austria).
Marga Fabbri now presents her work in Portugal as well, in response to the Allarts Gallery´s challenge to paint, as only she knows how, the domes of some of our country´s most beautiful monuments.
