Airton das Neves

Airton das Neves was born in S. Paulo, Brazil in 1964.
He had several jobs but he always felt an enormous attraction to painting. In 2003, the year his only son was born, he felt a strong appeal and, as he refers “I met art!”. He gave up everything, and dedicated himself to painting. The success came immediately.
His childhood with few resources, allowed him to pay isolated visits to “his grandparents place”, enchantment place, having registered in his memory the beautiful landscape and experiences he had lived there. Later he tried to know other communities, its costumes and knowledge in a daily meeting with life.
Working and mixing colours with perfection, his paintings show, at first glance, themes which are integrated and in harmony, however, if you read them carefully, we acknowledge a combination of small stories spread all over his paintings.
Since 2003, he has participated in collective exhibitions in Brazil and Argentina. He created some illustrations to several publications and, in 2006, made a business calendar to BASF. He works directly to some galleries in Brazil and also New York, Tel Aviv and now, Lisbon.
