Edilson Araújo
Edilson Araújo was born in Ouro Branco, Rio Grande do Norte but lives in S. Paulo since 1970. His favourite themes for his works derive from life in the Brazilian interior.
He transposes to the canvas, with a unique artistic expression, all aspects of daily life, fauna and flora of the peoples and places he observes.
Since 1980 he has regularly participated in collective exhibitions, having also done some individual shows invited by public and private institutions all over Brazil. He is a very popular and his work in demand. His works are included in collections such as the “Centro Cultural Brasil – Estados Unidos”, “Acervo da Unicef” in New York, “Museu Postal Brasileiro” and many other Regional and Municipal Museums in Brazil.
He has illustrated books and business catalogues, Christmas Cards (Unicef) and commemorative stamps.
He has received throughout his career many distinctions and honourable mentions, worth mentioning the Bronze Medals in the “II e IV Salões Nacionais de Artes Plásticas Alberto Santos Dumont”, the Silver Medals at the “I Salão Nacional de Artes Plásticas Brigadeiro Eduardo Gomes”, at the “Salão Nacional de Artes Plásticas de Araçatuba” and Gold Medal at the “I Salão da Paisagem da UNAP”.
