Manuel López Herrera

Born in Madrid, attended the drawing and painting course of the Arts and Crafts School, and later the Fine Arts Circle, both in Madrid. In 1973 he was a scholarship student in Rome, Florence and Venice, and in 1976 he completed his studies in London. He worked in restoration at the Prado Museum in Madrid, where he also studied the techniques of the classical painters.

His artworks are of unforgettable beauty, due to the perfection and simplicity of the drawings and the fascinating colours he can obtain, but also due to the more suggestive scenarios where his characters lives take place. This is, perhaps, the most emblematic aspect of his artworks, not only for the physiognomies but especially for the attitudes and for the particular way in which they interact with the spectator. To this combination, Lópes Herrera adds a solid artistic training, an infinite creative ability and the expertise of a skilled drawer, which confers an important basis for the excellence of his paintings and transmits the unique and unmistakable character that reports the long successful trajectory of this painter in the world of plastic arts.
