Following the reinterpretation of classic works in particular portraiture, João Figueiredo invites us once again to take tea with the characters of his imagination.
Through a seemingly conventional portrait gallery dive as voyeurs in a complex plot that goes far beyond the masks that blend with the skin. Here not only one, but also all are protagonists.
Building up from the dark black depth, maybe they´re inner universe, these men and women seek to assert themselves as unique beings according to their whims. As a palatial conspiracy, the narrative develops in many ways. Some provocative looks, others make a statement, others still question, but everyone desires.
There are power games, forbidden desires, unrequited love. It is in the core of the picture of the entangled web of desires not always compatible that characterize human nature. Visiting this collection is accepting a trip to our inner selves and rediscovers the questions that stayed behind. Perhaps we have found the answers, but it’s far more important to remember what made us question.

Because questioning, is always, an act of intelligence.
