Isabela Francisco

Isabela Francisco was born in Petrópolis, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1960 and has always been attracted to colours, shapes and embossed adornments. She has been studying painting since she was seven, and maintained expositions during several years at the Imperial Museum of Petrópolis, having been awarded by UNICEF in Paris, for her piece “O Garimpeiro”.
She studied art at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and since then, Brazil´s tropicalism has always been present in her work.
In 2002 Isabela stars with the collection “Branco que te quero Branco”, a series of works in light, harmonious shades of white, which was very positively appreciated, with emphasis to the honorous complement paid by the famous architect Oscar Niemeyer.
In 2006 Isabela Francisco saw her work recognized with the exposition, “Rio que te quero meu”, at the National Historic Museum, one of the largest museums in Rio de Janeiro, revealing to all the quality and versatility of her art. Since then she has participated in various national and international expositions, distinguishing herself by the delicacy of her white, or the exuberance of her colours.
And now, Isabela Francisco arrives in Portugal…
